Up & Coming

There are exciting times in the football world, we have Arsenal going to Spurs tonight (come on Gareth Bale, step up and make me proud) in an attempt to stay in touch with Man United who slipped up away from home at St. James' Park drawing 0-0. I am quite upset because I thought Man United should of won, and won comfortably...but it was not to be and it opens the league title up again. Man United have a tough game against Everton on the weekend, who are very difficult to beat again. I am sure they will be pushing Liverpool all the way for that 6th spot. Man United were very impressive against Chelsea in the Champions League and showed a professionalism that is needed when attempting to lift trophies. Plenty was said about that, and has made people think that the league is done and dusted. Man United's form is still not great of late  have not really got the results they desired in the last 2 games.
If Man United are starting to play some fantastic football, and they deserved more from their trip to St James'. Everton this United will have their work cut out for them in the coming weeks, but as the final games of the season are coming thick and fast, United will need their fresh legs of Rio, Park, Anderson, Silky smooth Berbatov and Fletcher when they meet Everton this weekend, then travel to the Emirates, Germany to face Schalke, and back to the Theatre of Dreams to face Chelsea in a hectic 3 weeks. Hopefully by then the 19th and record breaking league title will be just about in Old Trafford's trophy Cabinet...

Hopefully Spurs beat Arsenal tonight in their quest for 4th spot but Arsenal have a chance to close the gap to 4 points on Man United with their match at the Emirates to come in 2 weeks time. It should prove to be entertaining because their last couple games have only but given the neutrals thrilling football to watch. It will be interesting to watch Crouchy against the Arsenal centre backs who are about as watertight as a sieve.

And lets hope Lampard, Drogba and Co all get swine flu and lose their final games, starting with Birmingham tonight... I think they will finish 2nd if they don't contract the virus because I think Arsenal will choke again tonight against a quality Spurs team, leaving Chelsea with an opportunity to to leap frog them into 2nd.

Barcelona face Real Madrid in the Copa Del Rey Final. There is a wonderful rivalry between the 2 clubs, and is often labelled "Messi vs Ronaldo", "Guardiola vs Mourinho".
This is of course the warm up match to the real battles to come in the Champions League. They recently played one another on Sunday the 17th April. I dont think anyone expected a 5-0 thumping of Real again, and the match showed the both clubs strengths. Real had a man sent off in the 2nd half again. I am sure Jose Mourinho must wonder what he has to do to keep a full team on the field when facing Barcelona (previously having a man sent off with Chelsea, Inter and Barcelona). He recently joked and said he would have his prepare to play with 10 men, so do you think he had someone showing Marcelo how to dive like Penny Haynes to help compensate for being a man down? Because that worked as Real god a "penalty"... the match only ended 1-1, but I am sure there are plenty goals to come from these 2 spanish giants in the mouth watering coming weeks.
Personally, I hope Messi get a Hattrick in every match and then put this "who is the best player in the world" argument to bed.

Over & Out
